The workshops are organized by ITA employees or guests, with themes defined by ITA and based on consultation with Adhering Members or observation of market trends. The workshops, held in person or virtually, will last up to 8 hours and will take place three times per year.

Advanced Coatings and Thin Films
The workshop on Advanced Coatings and Thin Films was held on November 06, 2025, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA and members of ITA. The workshop presented general aspects of advanced coatings and thin films, addressing process characteristics, surface cleaning and finishing, as well as applications in gears and cutting tools.

Artificial Intelligence for Gears
The workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Gears was held on June 26 and 27, 2025, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA and members of ITA. The workshop introduced artificial intelligence concepts, presenting case studies on AI applied to gear failure detection, residual stress state prediction in the manufacturing chain, and oil churning quantification in industrial gearboxes.

Materials and Heat Treatment for Gears
The workshop on Materials and Heat Treatment for Gears was held on April 24, 2025, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA and members of ITA. The workshop presented an introduction to heat treatments for gears, paying special attention to quenching, carburizing, nitriding, and carbonitriding processes.

Surface Integrity Day II
The Surface Integrity Day II workshop was held on September 26, 2024, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA and members of ITA. The workshop addressed general aspects of surface integrity, with a special focus on topography and residual stress induced by the gear manufacturing chain stages, such as machining, heat treatment, shot peening, and grinding.

Systems modeling for design and calculation of complete transmissions
The workshop on Systems Modeling for the design and calculation of complete transmissions was held on July 4, 2024, with the presence of Engrena ITA members and ITA members. The workshop covered the development of the model, generation of the transmission structure, creation of gears and connections, definition of limit conditions and system data, modeling of components, calculation of power loss resistance and thermal balance.

Fundamentals of Bevel Gears
The workshop on Fundamentals of Bevel Gears was held on April 25, 2024, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop covered bevel gear types, shaft angles, sizing standards, gear generation fundamentals, profile transmission, common manufacturing processes and mathematical modeling.

Cylindrical gear design
The workshop on the Cylindrical Gear Project was held on August 29, 2023, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop covered Drive Systems, Gear Tooth Design, Pair Interactions, Profile Adjustments, Drive Ratios, Tooth Sliding, Backlash Considerations, Tooth Flank Modifications, Application Considerations, and Thermal Capacities.

Introduction to Fatigue Analysis
The Introduction to Fatigue Analysis workshop was held on July 5, 2023, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop covered Mechanical behavior, fatigue analysis, general loads, fracture mechanics and fatigue analysis applications.

Tribology Day
Tribology Day was held on March 30, 2023, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop addressed the impact of tribology on energy consumption, tribology in transmission systems, wear mechanisms on surfaces and durability and efficiency tests in bench.

Failure analysis
The Failure Analysis workshop was held on September 27, 2022, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop covered the introduction of solid mechanics, fatigue, fractography concepts and fracture analysis.

Surface Integrity Day
Surface Integrity Day (SID) was held on April 12, 2022, with the presence of members of Engrena ITA, the Council and members of ITA. The workshop addressed the importance of surface integrity for the occurrence of failures, topographic analysis, residual stresses on a surface, as well as fatigue failure characterization methods.
